Fairfield to Host Girl Scouts in Government Day Wednesday

Approximately 60 scouts from Fairfield's schools will shadow town department managers to learn more about their local government, according to a press release.

Approximately 60 Girl Scouts from Fairfield's public schools will shadow town department managers on Wednesday to learn more about local government.

“Girl Scouts in Government Day provides a wonderful experience for Girl Scouts to learn how their local town operates and to meet the people who help make our town run so smoothly," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in a press release from the First Selectman's Office.

"The town has enjoyed hosting this special day for decades and we look forward to continuing to make this a fun and learning experience.”

Fairfield's Girl Scouts in Government Day will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. on April 10. The girl scouts will gather in the First Floor Conference Room in Sullivan Independence Hall at 9:30 a.m. and will receive a welcome from First Selectman Mike Tetreau. Scouts will then be introduced to the department manager who they will shadow over the course of the morning.  

The scouts and department managers will have lunch at First Church Congregational from 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. From 1:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m., the scouts will be divided into three groups for their afternoon tours of the Police Department, Fire Department, or one of the town’s open space properties. At 3 p.m. the scouts will conclude their day in the First Floor Conference Room at Independence Hall.
