Fairfield Library Announces 'One Book One Town' Selection Next Week
The "One Book One Town" initiative began in 2008, and was inspired by a program at the Seattle Public Library.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield Public Library and its community partners will announce the annual One Book One Town selection on Jan. 13, according to officials.
The announcement will be made at 11 a.m. in the Periodicals Room in the Main Library, and will be released on the library's social media platforms simultaneously.
Last year, the One Book One Town selection was Warrior Girl Unearthed by Angeline Boulley, and for 2023, the selection was I Keep Trying to Catch His Eye by Ivan Maisel.

Copies of the 2025 book selection will be available to borrow in print or digitally from Fairfield’s libraries or to purchase at the Fairfield University Store on Post Road.
"While the chosen book is geared to teens and adults, a complementary book selection will be available for middle-grade readers," officials wrote in a statement. "The author will be appearing in person on Wednesday, March 5, at the Sacred Heart University Theater in downtown Fairfield."

From the announcement:
The One Book One Town initiative was inspired by a program created by librarian and author Nancy Pearl of the Seattle Public Library’s Washington Center for the Book, who wondered what would happen if everyone in the city read the same book simultaneously. Fairfield’s own community reading initiative— named One Book One Town—began in 2008, and each year a committee of members from the community meets to select that year’s book. Co-chairs of this year’s FPL OBOT Committee are Philip Bahr, Head of Adult Services, and Jennifer Laseman, Head of Teen Services.
One Book One Town is made possible by the generous support of The Friends of Fairfield Public Library.
