Fairfield Man Accused of Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old

The man has recently been charged with sexual assault in Shelton and Fairfield.

A Fairfield man allegedly sexually assaulted a 13-year-old female, police said.

The investigation began in June when Fairfield Police Department received information from the Connecticut State Police Computer Crimes Unit about a tip regarding a juvenile involved in an online chat game with the suspect, according to Fairfield Police Deputy Chief Christopher Lyddy.

After a lengthy investigation detectives were able to determine which computer that the conversation occurred on.

“We were able to locate a juvenile who disclosed inappropriate and unlawful contact with [the suspect],” Lyddy said.

The inappropriate activity had been going on for several years and began when the female victim was in fifth grade, according to Lyddy.

Fairfield police charged Kerry McGuire, 38, of Oakwood Drive, with first-degree sexual assault, fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

McGuire was issued a $200,000 bond and arraigned on August 17. The investigation, which began on June 21, has been closed.
