Fairfield Man Charged with DUI after Southport Car Accident
The accident occurred on Sunday.

A Fairfield man was charged with driving under the influence on Sunday after the car he was reportedly driving struck crossed Pequot Avenue and struck a tree and stonewall on Chester Place, police said.
A witness reported the accident and told police that the driver got out of his car and walked away from the scene, according to the report.
Police found the driver -- identified as Edward Webb, 42, of Howard Street -- on Harbor Road, about a quarter mile away from the accident. Officers detected the odor of alcohol on his breath, and Webb reportedly admitted to drinking before driving, police said.
