Fairfield National Little League Heading To Williamsport After Winning Regionals

The team is the first Connecticut team to advance to the Little League World Series since 2017, when another Fairfield team made it.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Following the team's dominant victory Friday against St. James-Smithtown, New York, Fairfield National Little League is heading to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and the Little League World Series this week.

Fairfield defeated the New York team 12-1 in the Metro Regional Championship, punching its ticket to the famous tournament in Pennsylvania, and becoming the first Connecticut team to make it to Williamsport since Manchester in a COVID-era tourney in 2021, CT Insider reported. Fairfield American made it in 2017.

Twenty teams play in the Little League World Series, 10 from United States regions, and 10 from international markets.

In an email to Patch, Diego Da Lan, President of Fairfield National Little League, said the players have worked hard to make it to this point.

"Our players are extremely excited for the opportunity to be part of the LLWS," Da Lan said. "It's an honor, not only to represent Fairfield, but the entire state of Connecticut. These boys have been playing together since they were eight years old. They have worked extremely hard to get to where they are today, practicing every day for hours at a time. They’re each other’s best friends and play the game for each other."
