Fairfield National Victorious Over Texas At Little League World Series

Luca Pellegrini outdueled Texas pitchers with a one-hitter in Fairfield's opening game win in Williamsport, PA.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Behind dominant pitching from Luca Pellegrini, Fairfield National Little League won its first Little League World Series game Wednesday night 1-0 over Lamar Little League of Richmond, Texas.

Pelligrini posted double-digit strikeouts behind a one-hitter over the Southwest Region team.

Fairfield, the Metro Region representative, was held hitless for five innings until Jimmy Taxiltaridis got the team's first hit of the game. He was later called out after a review at third.

In the same inning, Ben Herbst had the winning RBI with a bloop single that drove home Dante Madera for Fairfield's only run.

Next up for Fairfield is a Friday night game against Honolulu, Hawaii — the West Region representative — in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. The game is scheduled for 7 p.m., and will again be telecast on ESPN.
