Fairfield National Wins Again, Goes To 3-0 In Little League World Series

The team faced the Midwest Region representative, Sioux Falls Little League from Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield National's bats came alive Monday night, with the team winning 13-1 over the Midwest Region representative, Sioux Falls Little League from Sioux Falls, South Dakota at the Little League World Series.

South Dakota scored in the first inning, but starting pitcher Luca Pellegrini settled in and threw another solid game. He won the team's opener against Texas. Fairfield, the Metro Region representative, got to Monday's game after beating the West representative, Honolulu, Hawaii, 5-1 on Friday.

South Dakota opened up the scoring in the first inning on Monday, but the team never scored again.

In the top of the fourth inning, Fairfield tied the score on a triple by Tommy D'Amura that drove in Logan Gryga for the team's first run.

D'Amura drove in two more runs in the sixth to give Fairfield a 5-1.

Jimmy Taxiltaridis also drove in another run in the sixth to push the score to 6-1.

In the sixth, Fairfield strung together more than a half-dozen consecutive hits, and the runners kept taking extra bases as South Dakota fielders appeared to become confused by where to throw the ball.

Fairfield broke it open in the sixth, scoring 10 runs.

Next up for Fairfield is Summerlin South Little League from Las Vegas, Nevada, at 3 p.m. on Wednesday on ESPN.

If Fairfield wins on Wednesday, the team will be in the United States Championship game.
