Fairfield National Wins Third-Place Game At Little League World Series

The Connecticut team capped off a successful tournament in Williamsport, PA with a victory over Santa Cruz, Aruba on Sunday.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield National Little League wrapped up the 2025 Little League World Series with a victory Sunday over the Caribbean Region representative, Aruba Center Little League, 4-2.

The Connecticut team, representing the Metro Region, ended the Williamsport, Pennsylvania classic with a 5-1 record, making it to the United States Championship game on Saturday, where they lost to the Mountain Region representative, Las Vegas, Nevada, 8-2.

In Sunday's game, Fairfield loaded the bases in the top of the first against the Aruba pitcher, but failed to score, and were blanked again in the second.

Charlie McCollough, Fairfield's starting pitcher, also held the Santa Cruz, Aruba-based team scoreless through two frames.

Fairfield finally broke through in the third, with a double by SJ Taxiltaridis that drove in two runs. He then came home on a wild pitch to make it 3-0.

Brian Palazzolo replaced McCollough on the mount in the bottom of the third, and he gave up two runs to make it 3-2. Tommy D'Amura then took over pitching duties to end the inning.

In the top of the sixth, Fairfield tacked on another run to make it 4-2, which is how the game ended.

Fairfield was impressive throughout the tournament, with solid pitching, clutch hitting, smart base running and incredible fielding.

The 11 and 12-year-olds should feel proud for coming in third in the world.

With the Third Place Consolation game complete, Las Vegas will face Chinese Taipei in the Little League World Series final on Sunday afternoon.

On Monday, Fairfield National will be welcomed back to town with a celebration and parade to honor their accomplishments and successful summer. The parade, which will begin at 5:30 p.m. on the Post Road in front of Dairy Queen, and end at Sherman Green with the party.

At the green, the celebration will include:

  • Speakers at the Gazebo, including Fairfield National Little League President Diego Da Lan, team manager and coaches, and introduction of players
  • Key to the Town from Acting First Selectman Christine Vitale
  • Town and state dignitaries
  • Hot dogs available for purchase (free for the team!)
  • Ice cream available for purchase from Saugatuck Sweets (free for the team!)
  • Music from a live DJ
  • A dunk tank
  • Fun for the entire community
