Fairfield Woman Accused Of Burglary After Child's Playdate: Police
The suspect "was observed rummaging through personal belongings in the master bedroom before leaving" the home, Fairfield police said.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A 44-year-old Fairfield woman was arrested by Fairfield police this month in connection with a burglary at home following a child's playdate.
Kristin Royce was arrested on Oct. 13 on charges of third-degree burglary, a felony, and second-degree criminal trespass, a misdemeanor, Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington told Patch.
"Officers responded to a residence after the homeowner reported finding Royce, whose child had been there earlier for a playdate, inside their home without permission," Wellington said. "Royce was observed rummaging through personal belongings in the master bedroom before leaving the residence."

After Royce left, the homeowner discovered $400 was missing, according to Wellington.
Before Royce left the home, the homeowner confronted her, Wellington said.

"[Royce] gave a nonsensical reason as to why she was in the house and just walked out and left," Wellington said. "No violence or aggressive behavior."
Police determined that Royce allegedly entered the home through an unlocked door, which Wellington cautioned residents about.
"The Fairfield Police Department would like to remind residents to always keep doors locked, even when home, as most burglaries and unlawful entries occur through unlocked doors," Wellington said. "Simple precautions like locking doors and windows can help prevent crimes of opportunity."
Patch reached out to attorney C. Christian Young, who is representing Royce, but did not immediately receive a reply.
Royce, who was arrested the same day as the alleged incident, was released after posting a $5,000 non-surety bond, and she is scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on Dec. 4.
