Information from the Rob Blanchard campaign:
FAIRFIELD, CT — Citing the high-cost of living, the need to strengthen Connecticut’s business climate and workforce pipeline, and improve access to healthcare, Rob Blanchard, a member of Fairfield’s Representative Town Meeting (RTM), [Tuesday] formally launched his campaign for the 28th State Senate District.
“Across Connecticut and in communities like Bethel, Easton, Fairfield and Newtown, so many families, no matter how hard they work, feel like they’re falling behind and the American Dream is slipping away,” said Rob. “But I’ve seen how electing the right people, who share our values and know how to create meaningful change, can bring that dream back within reach. I’ve fought for real results throughout my career in public service, and that’s what I’ll do for the 28th State Senate District. I’ll collaborate with local leaders to improve the cost of living, make smart investments in our workforce, and help ensure Connecticut remains a national leader on gun safety and reproductive healthcare.”

Now more than ever, Connecticut’s 28th State Senate District needs to elect a leader who will fight to protect the progress made on key issues and work to identify more solutions to kitchen table issues that impact countless residents. Rob will partner with stakeholders to protect and expand access to reproductive healthcare and preventative health services, while also addressing the systemic disparities present in our healthcare system. He will also continue to fight to protect Connecticut’s national standing as a leader on gun safety and funding for violence intervention grants.

Rob will address Connecticut’s high-cost of living by ensuring taxes remain stable and predictable for seniors and families. In the State Senate, he’ll fight for increased municipal aid so local leaders aren’t faced with raising property taxes or cutting education funding.
At a time when critical industries are facing mass shortages, Rob is running to create a strong workforce that attracts and trains the next generation of teachers, healthcare and public safety professionals, mental health workers and manufacturers. Rob will collaborate with public and private leaders to identify ways to address the talent gap, and ensure that workers who are trained here stay here and contribute to Connecticut’s economy, especially skilled veterans who are returning home.
Rob will be a true partner to business leaders and their employees. He’ll make sure that business owners – large and small – have access to the resources and support needed to grow and thrive.
Rob also understands Connecticut’s farms are one of our greatest assets. They contribute billions of dollars through food and tourism to the state’s economy. Rob will work to find innovative ways to keep the district’s farms strong for generations to come by attracting new customers, addressing labor shortage challenges and helping to diversify their offerings.
“I have a plan to bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to our state government. I look forward to meeting voters at their doors, sharing my vision, and, most importantly, hearing what matters to them. I’m excited to get started,” said Rob.
