Fairfield's Education Grants Would Dip In Lamont's Proposed Budget

However, the town would see an increase in other grants from the state under the governor's proposed two-year spending plan.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield is looking at a drop in the education grants it receives from the state, under Gov. Ned Lamont's proposed two-year budget.

The town is estimated to receive $1,131,021 in education grants from the state for Fiscal Year 2025, but that amount would drop to $1,128,399 in Fiscal Year 2026, and dip again in FY 2027 to $1,125,778.

Overall, the governor is proposing about $160 million more in funding for education grants throughout the state.

Lamont's proposed two-year budget is $55.2 billion, or $27 billion in FY 2026 and $28.2 billion the following year.

In addition to education grants, the state also gives grants to municipalities to help make up for non-taxable properties, such as schools and churches.

Under this grant program, Fairfield will see an increase in Lamont's spending plan.

Fairfield is estimated to receive $7,894,842 in municipal-specific grants in FY 2025, and it would increase to $8,184,008 in FY 2026. That figure would dip slightly in FY 2027 to $8,181,386, but the amount would still be above the FY 2025 tally.
