Father And Son Accused Of Assaulting Fairfield Police Officer

The incident, which occurred on Feb. 20, involved the sale of a vehicle, according to Fairfield police.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A father and son from Redding were arrested last week, after Fairfield police said the two assaulted an officer during an incident over the sale of a vehicle, Patch has learned.

David Forlenzo, 49, and Jesse Forlenzo, 19, were both arrested on charges of assault on a police officer and interfering with police. The two were released on $10,000 bonds following the Feb. 20 altercation, and they are scheduled to appear in Bridgeport Superior Court on March 6.

According to Fairfield Police Sgt. Jenna Wellington, the incident began when a Fairfield police officer on patrol was approached by two individuals who were involved were purchasing a vehicle from the Forlenzos.

"After the buyers raised concerns about the vehicle, the Forlenzos left the scene," Wellington told Patch, but while the officer was still at the undisclosed location, the Forlenzos returned.

"David became agitated, yelled at officers, advanced on them, and grabbed an officer’s arm," Wellington said. "As officers gained control of David, Jesse exited his vehicle and began striking officers, resisting arrest by flailing, punching, and swinging."

No injuries were reported in the altercation.

"Fairfield Police Officers are committed to protecting the community, and any act of violence against them will not be tolerated," Wellington told Patch. "We urge everyone to resolve conflicts peacefully when interacting with police officers."
