Fire Injures 1, Damages Home On Louvain Street In Fairfield: FD

FAIRFIELD, CT — One person was injured in a house fire Thursday afternoon at 35 Louvain St. in Fairfield, according to fire officials.

The fire was reported at 12:35 p.m., and multiple engines were called to the scene to douse the blaze.

"It was reported that the male homeowner noticed a plume of smoke in the rear of his home," Fairfield fire officials posted on Facebook. "He investigated and found the fire. He alerted his wife to call 911 before attempting extinguishment using two dry chemical extinguishers. Unfortunately, the fire had grown beyond the capability of his extinguishers."

The man suffered minor burns to his face while battling the fire, and was treated at Bridgeport Hospital. No other injuries were reported.

Firefighters had the blaze under control within minutes of their arrival, and members of the Fairfield Fire Marshal's Office are investigating the cause of the fire.
