Five Things, May 17: Motown Comes to the Gaelic American Club

Here are five things to know about Fairfield for Friday, May 17:  

1. The weather.
Friday and Saturday are forecast to be sunny, with highs near 71 and 67, respectively. Sunday is expected to be mostly cloudy with a high near 67.  

2. Motown comes to the Gaelic American Club.
The sounds of Motown will rock the Gaelic American Club Friday, May 17 at “Rockin’ Around the Decades: A Night at the Apollo,” a benefit for The Center for Women and Families of Eastern Fairfield County.  

3. National Book Award Finalist visits Fairfield.
Kevin Powers, author of "The Yellow Birds," will speak at 7 p.m. at Fairfield Woods Middle School.     

4. Plant sale.
Plan ahead for Saturday -- the Greens Farms Garden Club plant sale is 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. on Saturday in the Sherman Green gazebo.  

5. Southport tag sale.
Baby clothes, baby items, toys, furniture, and more at 743 Bronson Road. The sale starts at 8 a.m.
