Governor, Officials Open New DMV Express Site In Fairfield
The state is teaming with AAA on the site, which is inside a AAA facility at 1201 Kings Highway in Fairfield.
FAIRFIELD, CT — In an effort to make the driver's license renewal and other vehicle matters more convenient, AAA and the state Department of Motor Vehicles officially has opened a new DMV Express location in the AAA Northeast site at 1201 Kings Highway in Fairfield.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Fairfield site on Monday, attended by Gov. Ned Lamont, DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera, AAA Northeast’s Chief Human Resources Officer Ron Arigo, and Fairfield officials.
"I'm a card-carrying AAA member," said First Selectman Bill Gerber, as he held up his card to the delight of the assembled crowd. "I've been a member for 30 years, and I don't leave home without it. So when I found out about this [new DMV Express location], I jumped at the chance to be here, because this is a really big deal."

In addition to the Fairfield site, AAA and the DMV are rolling out similar Express locations in Norwalk and Danbury. The public, not just AAA members, can set up appointments and go to these sites for license renewals and other select DMV services.
"This partnership will provide our community with benefits of convenience, flexibility, and time-saving appointments," said Beverly Balaz, president of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

Gov. Lamont agreed. "We're trying to make life a little more convenient for each and every one of you. Before, it was not always the most positive experiences going to the DMV, with the long waits. Now you can renew your license here, some people want that, and that's what this amazing partnership with AAA is all about."
Guerrera said the DMV was happy to partner with AAA.
"As the governor stated, he wanted us [the DMV] out there, he said to go to the customers, if they can't come in, we go to them," Guerrera said.
