Home Organizing Company Opens In Fairfield

Busy families take note... your helper has arrived.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Not everyone looks at a cluttered, messy home and thinks it's a dream come true, but Fairfield resident Lauren Benz does.

Benz, a wife and mom of three, recently opened LB Home Organization, a home decluttering and organizing company located at 1 Carter Henry Drive in Fairfield, better known as the Fairfield Train Center Building on the New Haven bound side of the tracks.

The business, which accepts clients from Fairfield, Westchester and nearby counties, specializes in helping busy families get organized and transform their homes and lives for the better.

Benz says she has been a bit of a neat freak since she was young.

"As a kid, I would rearrange my room and organize everything," Benz told Patch. "I'm the type of person who cannot work unless the space around me is clear, calm and organized."

She came up with the idea to start the business as a side hustle years ago while she was working, but couldn't get it up and running at the time. It took her being home with her young children for her to finally revisit the idea and get it launched.

"This is a dream come true," Benz said about finally getting the business off the ground.

As her website says, Benz "fully understands the demands of a fast-paced lifestyle and offers more than just beautifully labeled bins - she truly believes that an organized home provides peace of mind, restored routines and homes that truly work for the people living in them."

She has begun networking with interior designers, real estate agents and others, and said that while she does not offer custom shelving or organizational furniture just yet, she helps clients find items that can work in their homes at Target, Amazon, the Container Store and others.

On her website, Benz describes the process:

Let's chat!

Let's start with a complimentary phone call where we discuss the projects you have in mind, your goals for your space and schedule your first home organization session.

Step 1. Remove

I start by taking everything out and when I say everything, I mean everythingggggg!

Step 2. Edit

Once everything is removed and sorted, we figure out what is staying and what is going.

Step 3. Contain

It's time to play a little tetris! Each home has its unique space with its own measurements, nooks and crannies so each space I organize is designed specifically for you and your needs. I plan out your space so your items are organized and put back in a way that makes sense to your home and lifestyle.

Step 4. Label

I. Label. Everything.

Ta-da!

Our work is done, at least for that particular space…. on to the next one!

LB Home Organization held a ribbon-cutting celebration earlier this month, attended by family, friends and Fairfield First Selectman Bill Gerber and the town's Economic Development Director Mark Barnhart.

"This is a beautiful space, and you're making great use of it with this business," Gerber said of the state-owned train station building.

LB Home Organization is open Monday through Friday by appointment, due to Benz not always being at the office, because she's often out in the field at a client's home.

On-site planning meetings with clients are $75 and usually last an hour. During this session, Benz will "review your space, discuss goals and take measurements of your space."

Organizing sessions are $75 or more per hour, with three-hour minimum increments.

Packages of 16, 32 and 48 hours are also available for people organizing more than one space.
