Letter: 'Wake Up - Speak Up - We Must Be Heard!'
Resident Joan Fortuna discusses the proposed tax increase in Fairfield.

Wow! The town is only raising our taxes another 6.4 percent. Why did they not ask for more, 8 or 9 or 10 percent? Would it have made any difference?
No one speaks up against this complete disregard for the taxpayer of this town. We can’t just go out and vote; we must do more. If things are not going the way we had hoped, i.e. high taxes, out of control union contracts, the Metro railroad center, school renovations, the Penfield Pavilion, etc., we must speak up. If we don’t, the town and the unions just keep asking for more.
Do we the people have any say in the contracts with the union? Do we have any say in the budget process? It’s our money, we must wake up, speak up, and we must be heard.
