Man Accused of Committing ID Theft to Purchase Painkillers

An Easton man faces identity theft and drug charges after he turned himself in on a warrant at Fairfield police headquarters on Friday, police said.

Joseph Peloso, 30, of Beers Road, was charged with third-degree identity theft after he allegedly used another person's information to buy a prescription for the painkiller hydrocodone, police said.  

An employee at CVS Pharmacy at 1968 Black Rock Turnpike reported a suspicious prescription to police in February. The investigation lead police to believe Peloso used false information to obtain the prescription, according to the report.

Detectives filed an arrest warrant last week. Peloso was also charged with possession of narcotics and illegally obtaining narcotics, police said.

Peloso's bond was set at $2,500 and he is scheduled to appear in court on March 26.
