FAIRFIELD, CT - (From Shaughnessy Banks Funeral Home) Morton Levinson, 89 of Fairfield, the beloved husband of the late Sally Levinson, died peacefully at home on Monday, May 17, 2021.

He was the only child of Samuel and Ethel (Klein) Levinson, who provided an amazing family life in the Black Rock section of Bridgeport.

Sam & Ethel owned and operated Sam’s Place a bar/restaurant where Ethel cooked and Sam ran the thriving bar. Mort spent much of his childhood days playing all kinds of sports with the neighborhood kids.

Mort served proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War, where he ran electronics for the pilots on the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge. He tried out and made the Navy’s fast pitch softball team and played many competitive games while stationed in the Philippines.

Mort was the founder of Westfair TV Audio, a staple in the Fairfield County Community since 1962. He mentored many in the organization throughout the years with his keen business sense and salesmanship. During his business career he also invested in real estate and ran that business with his daughter Linda.

Calling it the best time of his life, he lived in Venice, Florida, with Sally for 30 years, building many strong friendships along the way.

Mort’s major passion was music, where he began playing guitar in the Navy. As a young adult, whenever there was a party (and Mort did love to party), he would bring his guitar and play singalongs.

He also performed in a country band when living in Connecticut, and a big band in Florida. Poppy (as he was called by his grandsons Dylan & Connor), introduced them to music at a young age and they are now professional, performing musicians.

Mort is survived by his two loving children, Linda Levinson of Easton, and Glenn Levinson and his wife, Susan of Fairfield, as well as his two cherished grandsons, Dylan and Connor.

A private burial with Military Honors will take place in Ahavath Achim Cemetery in Fairfield. A party to celebrate his wonderful life will be held at a later date.

Donations in Mort’s honor can be sent to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, MegSally fundraising channel, in memory of Meg and Sally, two Westfair family members who lived with MS, https://www.westfairtv.com/megsally.
