The Pantry Market In Fairfield Reopens After Fire
A GoFundMe page has been established to support the workers at the popular grocery store.

FAIRFIELD, CT — A little under a week after a fire did "considerable damage," The Pantry in Fairfield reopened over the weekend.
The popular grocery store, at 1580 Post Road, had hoped to reopen by the end of the week after the Sept. 16 exterior fire, and was able to succeed. No injuries were reported in the fire.
"We will not be at 100% for prepared items, but I’m pretty sure the bakery will be full," officials wrote on Facebook, the day before Saturday's reopening. "We can’t wait to see everyone! Thank you again for EVERYTHING!"

A GoFundMe page has been established to help the dozens of workers, who lost pay due to the fire. As of Monday, the initiative had raised more than $9,800 toward a goal of $50,000.
"The Pantry is home to 71 awesome employees," wrote Kristyn Golier, who organized the GoFundMe effort. "Yes, you heard me right...71 awesome employees!! If we can hit the fundraising goal, this will cover the entire week's payroll."

Other efforts in support of The Pantry included flowers donated by Wheeler House Flowers; and parsley and other plants donated by Gilbertie's Organics; beer for staffers from Harry's; loaves of bread from Zane's Bakery; and pizzas for the staff from Nauti Dolphin Pizzeria, among others.
"So we wanted to thank everyone for their amazing generosity in donating, and a massive thanks to Kristyn, who thought of, and started the [GoFundMe] page," The Pantry wrote. "She has said that she’s since heard from many, that even if insurance covers payroll, instead of donating it back to the community, to give it to the employees. We are happy to do that.
"Thank you once again, everyone. The incredible kindness on display this past week has certainly highlighted the fact that joy and kindness always wins. Let’s keep it going!!"
