The Summer Book Sale features more than 30 categories of items for sale, including CDs, DVDs, LP’s, children’s books, cookbooks, fiction & classics, history, biography, gardening, auction catalogs, mysteries, and signed books. The sale also includes over 200 collectible items currently available for purchase. They can be found by following the Book Sale link on the Library’s website.
The Summer Book Sale also creates opportunities for community service. For example, with thanks to the Renée B. Fisher Foundation, Pequot Library continues its twenty-plus year tradition of offering $100 vouchers to public school teachers from New Haven and Bridgeport. Teachers use these funds for stocking their classroom shelves. This year, the Library is launching a pilot program for teachers from select schools in Ansonia, Derby, Norwalk, and Stratford. The vouchers were handed out on a first come, first served basis, with a cap of 350 participants.
In addition, once again, Trinity Episcopal Church will host its “Park for Food” drive from Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24. The food drive will take place in their spacious parking lot on the corner of Pequot Avenue and Center Street (a half-block away from the Library). Volunteers will direct patrons to available parking in exchange for canned food or monetary donations. Park for Food runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
The Summer Book Sale is Pequot Library’s largest annual fundraiser, supporting programs for adults and children and serving more than 60,000 participants a year. The Sale runs from Friday to Saturday (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.); Sunday to Monday (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.); and on Tuesday (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Hours and pricing can be found at www.pequotlibrary.org.
As a public association library 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, the Library relies on the generosity of donors at fundraisers, corporate and community partners, and Friends of Pequot Library memberships. Don’t miss a moment. Follow Pequot Library on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
