FAIRFIELD, CT — A proposed Porsche dealership, to be built at the former Exide Battery property at 2190 Post Road in Fairfield, was narrowly turned down this week by the Fairfield Town Plan and Zoning Commission, after some commissioners had concerns, the Connecticut Post reported.

The commission voted 4-3, with commissioners Kathryn Braun, Tom Corsillo, Alexis Harrison, Jeff Randolph opposing the application, and Chair Thomas Noonan, Steven Levy and Jeanine Pocoski voting in favor of the proposal.

Among the concerns of the majority were reportedly the potential environmental impact of the dealership on the 6.23-acre site, which is adjacent to the Mill River, and the limited public access along the property.

At one point, the site was being proposed for a 98-unit luxury housing complex.

Those who supported the proposal argued that the dealership is an allowed use of the property. They also believe the denial could be appealed in court, where the applicants have a chance of succeeding.
