When choosing a swimsuit for the summer, keep in mind UV rays can penetrate a bathing suit.
Swim 'N Surf co-owner Kelly Kegan-McGee advises shoppers to look for a suit made with UV protection or a rash guard, like a swim shirt.
"You can get burnt through your suit.
Some people don't get that," she said.
A big sunhat is also a must when it comes to protecting your skin at the beach, Kegan-McGee added.
These suggestions come in addition to applying sunscreen, of course.
A coverup can also help ward off the sun's harmful rays, and Swim 'N Surf has plenty of those in stock.
As for swimsuits, Kegan-McGee said this year's popular styles include the tankini (especially popular with mothers) and the classic bikini.
The shop, which has been serving Fairfield's swimming and beach fashion needs for eight years, is also a purveyor of school and club swim team suits and goggles, Kegan-McGee said.
Swim 'N Surf, located on Unquowa Road, is open Monday - Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
