Thieves Target 3 Separate ATMs Within Minutes: Fairfield PD

According to the Fairfield Police Department, suspects targeted ATMs at three gas stations along the same road early Thursday morning.

FAIRFIELD, CT — Fairfield police are investigating several ATM burglaries that took place within minutes of one another at three different gas stations along the same road.

According to officers, at 3:34 a.m., suspects targeted the Citgo at 1096 Post Rd. According to the incident report, the gas station's alarm company reported a loud pounding noise and people could be seen trying to steal an ATM.

One minute later, police said suspects tried to break into an ATM at the Shell gas station at 1139 Post Rd. after forcing their way into the front door of the business. Police said they also attempted to break into the cash register.

At 3.42 a.m., while checking the area after the prior two alarms were received, police said they found the front door to Cumberland Farms at 1101 Post Rd. was found open with the alarm going off. Officers said the ATM was also tampered with and the cash register drawers were taken.

Police said the three gas station burglaries remain under investigation.

It was not immediately known if the three cases were linked to one another or how much money the suspects possibly stole at each location.
