Two NY Men Accused of Using Counterfeit $100 Bills in Fairfield Were Arrested

Two men were arrested for using fake currency at local businesses in Fairfield on Sunday.

Fairfield police said that two New York men were passing out counterfeit $100 bills, and were arrested Sunday night after an alert witness reported the crime.

Both suspects were taken into custody outside Stone Cold Creamery on Black Rock turnpike, police told the Fairfield Citizen. Marc Cornier, 22, and Freddy Pachay, 58, were taken in after they allegedly used fake currency at five different businesses on the street.

Cornier, of Flushing, New York, was charged with four counts of sixth-degree larceny and four counts first-degree forgery . His partner, Pachay, of Corona, New York, who was driving the car, was charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit first-degree forgery and four counts of conspiracy to commit sixth-degree larceny. Pachay was also charged with two counts of first-degree forgery.
