Dollar Tree Will Fill Unionville's Vacant Walgreens Building: Report

Town officials confirmed to the Hartford Courant that the discount chain plans to open in Farmington. An opening date hasn't been announced.

UNIONVILLE, CT — Discount chain Dollar Tree plans to open a store in the former Unionville Walgreens, a building that has been vacant for almost two years, the Hartford Courant reported.

Town officials confirmed to the Courant that the chain is coming to the 15,000-square-foot building at 5 Mill St., though an opening date has not been announced.

"It is a viable company that is going to be successful and it will fit a need," Economic Development Director Rose Ponte told the Courant. "I think it checks off a whole lot of boxes."

On its website, Dollar Tree is described as offering "a broad, exciting mix of merchandise that includes many trusted national and regional brands."

Unionville's Walgreens closed on June 1, 2020 after eight years in business.
