Farmington Grand List Continues to Show Growth

The list represents a portion of the revenue of the budget story. Officials utilize the information to set the town's budget and tax rate.

From the Town of Farmington: The Town of Farmington today announced its grand list numbers, which show growth for the fourth straight year. Specifically, the grand list increased by $22,007,458 or 0.62%. Real Estate increased by $8,541,675 or by 0.27%; Personal Property increased by $10,963,171 or 5.20%; and Motor Vehicles increased by $2,502,612 or 1.08%.

Town Manager Kathleen Eagen said that, “The growth that the Grant List has seen over the last several years speaks to Farmington’s desirability as a community to both work and to live in. The Town of Farmington continues to see measured growth in all components of the Grand List. The growth in Personal Property, which is business equipment and furnishings, demonstrates that businesses continue to
thrive in Farmington. ”

The Town of Farmington is pleased with the modest Grand List growth this year," said Town Council Chair, Nancy Nickerson. "Unfortunately, no amount of growth in the Grand List will offset the dramatic impact the Governor’s proposed budget will have on Farmington. Our State grant revenue is being drastically reduced and shifting a portion of the Teachers’ Retirement Contribution to the municipalities, a $3.3 million expenses for Farmington, will force the Town to make major reductions in all service areas including education and public safety and to significantly raise taxes to meet these financial obligations.” "It is a sad day in Connecticut when towns like Farmington are punished for competent fiscal management."
