Farmington Student Will Attend U.S. Coast Guard Academy

An honors student at Farmington High School, he was one of fewer than 400 appointments from a pool of over 2,000 applicants.

FARMINGTON, CT — A Farmington High School senior has been chosen to attend the United States Coast Guard Academy this fall.

Jason Guglietta of Farmington has accepted his appointment to the school and will be sworn in to its class of 2026 on June 27 at its campus in New London.

Guglietta was chosen for his "superior academic achievement and leadership potential," the USCGA said, and he was among fewer than 400 students to be chosen out of more than 2,000 applicants.

An honors student, Guglietta as served as captain of the varsity wrestling team, a student tutor, a peer mentor and a student ambassador.

He was elected to the Tri M Music National Honors Society and founded an FHS chapter of the "Be Homeful Project," which brings awareness to homelessness.

As a Coast Guard Academy appointee, Guglietta will earn a bachelor of science degree and is guaranteed a leadership position as a commissioned officer in the United States Coast Guard.

He will receive a full tuition scholarship and a monthly stipend in return for a five-year service commitment to the Coast Guard after he graduates.

Guglietta is the son of Steven and Nicole Guglietta of Farmington, and he will be a fourth-generation graduate of Farmington High School (his father Steven graduated in 1990, his grandfather Tom graduated in 1960 and his great-grandfather Dominic graduated in 1930).
