Hopefuls For Farmington's Top Elected Post To Debate This Week

FARMINGTON, CT — With about a week left before the municipal elections, a Farmington High School student group is hosting a debate between the hopefuls for the top elected post.

The FHS Civic Leaders of America group is hosting a debate this Thursday, Oct. 30, at 7 p.m. inside the school's gymnasium.

It will pit incumbent Republican Farmington Town Council Chairman Joe Capodiferro against Democratic challenger Brian FX Connolly.

It should be noted that parking for the debate will be in the FHS student lot due to an FHS football game scheduled that same night at 6 p.m.

The Farmington High School Civic Leaders of America is a non-partisan club "dedicated to increasing student participation in the community and the political process."

Farmington's form of government and charter puts the election of the council's chairman into the hands of voters.

The town has a town council/town manager form of government, making the chairman of the council the top elected official in Farmington.
