Art Show to Benefit Holcomb Farm Celebrates 'The Land That Feeds Us'

Kate Emery's exhibition of original oil paintings at Lost Acres Vineyard will raise funds for Holcomb Farm's Fresh Access Program

"The Land That Feeds Us: Body, Mind and Soul" is the theme of an exhibition of original oil paintings by Farmington-based artist Kate Emery, which will be on view at Lost Acres Vineyard in North Granby from April 29 through May 30. The gallery at the vineyard is open Fridays and Saturdays, noon-6 p.m., and Sundays, noon-5 p.m. An Artist's Opening Reception is scheduled for May 7 from 4-6 p.m.

The show of more than 50 original canvases invites viewers to pause and to consider the myriad ways nature sustains our physical, mental and emotional wellbeing. Emery will donate 50% of proceeds from works sold to Granby-based Holcomb Farm's Fresh Access program, which provides farm-grown produce to more than 3,500 people each year.

"As climate-change-fueled drought, wildfires, storms and other environmental challenges threaten the land that nourishes us, I am even more driven to paint scenes that remind us to preserve and protect cherished landscapes," says Emery, who has been painting for more than 30 years but has only recently made art her full-time career. Her creations are a reminder of the beauty and importance of both cultivated and wild lands and of all creatures that inhabit them.
