The splashes of bright yellow all over town have nothing to do with spring. They're a reminder that it's almost time for the Gran-Bee. Described on the <a href="http://www.granbyeducationfoundation.org/index.html" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">Granby Education Foundation website</a> as a "night of friendly competition, silly antics, and brain-teasing fun," the Gran-Bee is an annual contest and town tradition that benefits the education foundation. The foundation supports educational intiatives for all ages in Granby and surrounding towns. Here's how it works, according to the website: "In the Gran-Bee, teams of three people compete in seven "swarms" (rounds) for the right to advance to the final swarm. Here, the finalists compete until all of the teams are "swatted" but one. The winning team takes home the coveted Bee trophy, along with three adult memberships to the Farmington Valley YMCA (generously donated by the YMCA each year!)." Last year's winners, from among 27 teams, . The Gran-Bee will be held at Granby Memorial High School at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, March 22.
