GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Granby and East Granby.
Carly DeMartino, 20, of Granby, passed away peacefully with her loving parents by her side on May 15, 2025, after a courageous battle with cancer. She graduated from Granby Memorial High School in 2022, then majored in public advocacy at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn., where she was on track to graduate Magna cum laude from their Honors Program in 2026. She was selected as a National Spokeskid for The Sunshine Kids Foundation, representing The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp as an honorary co-chair of the Travelers Championship, and speaking in support of Make-A-Wish Connecticut.
James Drude, 72, of Enfield, died peacefully in his sleep May 23, 2025. He graduated from Granby Memorial High School, and received an associate’s degree from Central Connecticut State University. Jim entered the food service business with Lykes Dispensing Systems, where he was honored as Salesman of the Year four times, earning him the title of Branch Manager. He then moved to Moccomat, a division of Sara Lee, where he was hired as the Branch Manager starting a new office serving Metro Boston and surrounding areas. He then ran the family business, Tagco/Tri Star Gage; manufacturing thread measuring gauges, and ended with MSC Industrial, selling cutting tools and industrial supplies.

Eleanor (Zito) Grant, 97, of Granby, wife of 67 years of the late Edward T. Grant, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2025. She graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1945. Through the years of her career, Eleanor was employed at various insurance companies before choosing to stay with Cigna Data Center, from where she retired in 1994. During the years of retirement, she was able to enjoy many activities she loved, such as reading mystery novels, baking, especially her many favorite cookie recipes and cooking Italian dishes learned from her mother, aunts and grandmother.
Beulah "Bea" Mattson, 87, of East Granby, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Beechwood Rehabilitation Center in New London, CT. She was surrounded by the love and presence of her family in her final moments—a fitting farewell for a woman whose life was defined by compassion, resilience, and unconditional love. Bea worked for many years as an office assistant at J.M. Ney Co. and later in the nuclear division of ABB Group. But it was not her career that defined her. Rather, Bea will forever be remembered for her infectious laughter, her quiet, resolute faith, and her ability to make everyone who crossed her path feel accepted, welcomed, and loved.

Andrew Rossetti, 64, of East Granby, died May 22, 2025, after a lengthy health battle. He graduated from Granby Memorial High School and began working for Walter Simmons and Sons as an equipment repair mechanic. His career with the East Granby Resident State Troopers Office began in 1986, and he served his community for 27 years. Andy received the Distinguished Service Award, Outstanding Service Award, and Life Saving Award from the Connecticut State Police, and was promoted to sergeant in 2012.
