First Congregational Church Joining 'Prayer Weekend to End Child Abuse'
The effort is being organized by Covenant to Care for Children.

First Congregational Church of Granby is among the churches participating in a "Prayer Weekend to End Child Abuse in Connecticut."
During the first weekend of April, April 5-7, 2013, faith-based communities throughout Connecticut "will share a common a prayer to end child abuse in the state," according to a press release from Covenant to Care for Children (CCC).
"The critical mission of this prayer effort is to empower members of all faith communities with the understanding and strength to stop the cycle of child abuse and neglect with a focus on actions that protect at-risk children before abuse or neglect starts," the release states.

"For twenty-six years, CCC has mobilized and channeled the generosity of caring and faith-based communities through its programs. Serving over 17,000 children in Connecticut each year, the organization is at the forefront of the effort to bring child abuse and neglect to an end through social worker, mentoring and resource programs."
The prayer weekend is open to all communities.
