Granby-East Granby 2024 Election Results: 1 Challenger Beats Incumbent

The polls have closed in Granby and East Granby for the 2024 elections, and here are the latest updates on how local residents voted.

GRANBY-EAST GRANBY, CT — Shortly after the polls closed Tuesday night, Vice President Kamala Harris was announced as the winner of Connecticut's seven electoral college votes, defeating former President Donald J. Trump and three other candidates, according to the Associated Press.

Also, U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy, D-CT, won re-election and a third term in Congress, according to projections. He defeated GOP challenger Matthew M. Corey and two other candidates.

With just over 70 percent of the precincts reporting, Fox61 declared longtime Democratic incumbent John Larson the victor over Republican challenger Jim Griffin and Green Party candidate Mary Sanders in the battle for the District 1 seat in the U.S. House of Representatives.

The 7th state Senatorial District was again won by longtime incumbent Republican John Kissel, defeating challenger Cynthia Mangini. In District 8, a sprawling 11-town region which includes part of Granby, Democratic challenger Paul Honig won the seat from incumbent Republican Lisa Seminara.

"While the results of this election are not what we hoped for, my heart remains full of gratitude and humility," Seminara said. "I am immensely proud of the positive campaign we ran and the values we represented. We fought hard, fair, and remained laser-focused on the issues important to the people of the 8th District."

Two Republican incumbents retained their seats in the General Assembly. Tami Zawistowski topped Democrat Michael Malloy in the 61st House District, while Mark Anderson turned back the challenge of Kim Becker in the 62nd, which also covers part of Granby.
