McCann, West: Recent Death Notices From Granby

Condolences are extended to the families and friends of those who have recently died.

GRANBY, CT — Here are some recent death notices from Granby.

Dr. Stacey Je’re McCann, 50, died on April 21, 2025. She graduated from Granby Memorial High School through the Open Choice program, received her B.S. degree in elementary and special education and M.S. degree in early childhood education from the University of Hartford, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Central Connecticut State University. In 29 years, she cast down her net in Hartford, Bloomfield and Middletown Public Schools, as well as Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, the Greater Hartford Chapter of The Links, and Black Leaders and Administrators Consortium (BLAC), where she served as the second elected president. As principal of Henry C. Dwight Elementary School, she was the recipient of the 2005 No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School Award.

John West Jr., 90, beloved husband of 55 years of Pat West, passed away at his home on April 18, 2025. He was a loving husband, father of eight, grandfather of 25 and great-grandfather of 25. He graduated from the University of Florida, and was a miler on their first track team to win the Southeast Conference. After graduating in 1956, he was employed by Travelers Insurance Company in the state of Florida. In 1981, he was transferred to Hartford as an officer, retiring in 1996 as second vice president of personal lines. He took pride in being a manager and assistant coach to his son John’s Granby Rover soccer ream. He considered the boys on the team to be like one of his own.
