New Local Hair Salon Studio 17 Holds Grand Opening Today
Find out about the free services, food and beverages, discounts and more offered at the new salon in downtown Granby today.
New local business Studio 17, a full service hair salon, holds its grand opening ceremony today. Owner Shirley Fauteux-Dunn is offering food, wine and other beverages, free raffles and mini-services and more.
The salon, already distinguished because it offers customers a free beer, glass of wine or soft drink while they wait to take their turn in the stylist’s chair, is ready to officially open, Fauteux-Dunn said.
“I’m very excited and I’m expecting a lot of people,” she said, noting that she’ll have a full staff on Saturday at the business’ location at 17 Hartford Ave.

One of the unique features of the business is its offering of non-surgical facial treatments like Botox, and free consultations with Dr. Lillian Overman, the salon’s specialist in non-surgical facial treatments, are part of the offerings during the grand opening.
“A lot of people are coming just for that,” Fauteux-Dunn said, noting the pre-event buzz from her regular clientele.

The atmosphere at Studio 17 is friendly, which stems from Fauteux-Dunn’s repeat customers. Sue LaBonte of Windsor was in the stylist’s chair Friday and said Fauteux-Dunn cuts her whole family’s hair. LaBonte herself has followed Studio 17’s owner as she moved to three different salons during her career.
“Shirley has a very faithful following,” LaBonte said.
Fauteux-Dunn returned the sentiment, saying that her regular customers have become more like friends and family than just clients.
“I love my regulars,” Fauteux-Dunn said.
Visitors to the grand opening ceremony can get free eyebrow waxes, polish changes and washable colored highlights for kids. The salon is also offering discounts and deals on various services. The free raffles feature a men’s hair product basket, a gift card for a hair cut with styling, a free color and haircut and more.

Hours for the new business are as follows:
Monday, Tuesday and Thursday; 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Wednesday; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Friday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
