The Bears had a successful home opener at Ahrens Field Saturday, beating the Raiders 12-6 in a game keyed by a last minute, goal-line stand by the Bears.

Granby coach Rich Gadoury picked up his first win as a varsity football coach Saturday as the Bears beat the Suffield/Windsor Locks/East Granby Raiders 12-6 in a close game that came down to the final minutes.

Four attempts by the Raiders inside the Bears' 10-yard line during the final two minutes of the fourth quarter netted nothing but a defensive stop by Granby.

Successful offensive drives from Granby set up two short quarterback keepers for Curt Field, who was the day's leading scorer with two rushing touchdowns. Suffield/Windsor Locks/East Granby had their score come on a strong run from Trystan Cauley, who was the focal point of the Raiders' offense.
