Wrong Way Crash On I-91 Leads To Arrest Of East Granby Man
No injuries were reported in the crash late Sunday night, police said.

WINDSOR, CT — An East Granby resident was arrested late Sunday night after driving the wrong way on Interstate 91 while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, then crashing into the center median, according to state police.
James Sanders, 58, was charged with operating under the influence, reckless driving, first-degree reckless endangerment, operating without minimum insurance, driving the wrong way on a divided highway and failure to drive in proper lane.
He was released on a $25,000 nonsurety bond, and is slated to appear in Hartford Superior Court May 30.

According to a state police report, Sanders entered the northbound side of the highway at Exit 40 in Windsor in the correct direction around 11:13 p.m., turned left, traveled across all three lanes in a perpendicular direction and collided with the center median divider. He then turned left following the collision and began to drive the wrong way until such time the vehicle became permanently disabled.
No other vehicles were involved, and no injuries were reported, police said.
