6th Annual Silver Shield Foundation Walk Upcoming In Greenwich: Details
The annual event will honor fallen first responders and support their families through scholarships.

GREENWICH, CT — The Silver Shield Foundation will host its sixth annual Greenwich walk on Saturday, Nov. 8, at Tod’s Point in Greenwich to honor fallen first responders and support their families through scholarships.
The event will raise funds for the foundation’s mission to provide educational assistance to the children and surviving spouses of police officers, firefighters and EMS members killed in the line of duty.
Former NBC anchor and Silver Shield Foundation trustee Chuck Scarborough will preside over the opening ceremony.

Speakers will include Greenwich First Selectman Fred Camillo, Connecticut State Police Commander Col. Daniel Loughman, New York City Police Department First Deputy Commissioner Tania Kinsella and New York City Fire Department Commissioner Robert Tucker.
Participants from across the region are expected, including members of the Greenwich police, fire and EMS departments, along with representatives from the New York City Police and Fire Departments, the Connecticut, New York and New Jersey State Police, and police departments in Suffolk and Nassau counties.

Scholarship recipients, families of fallen first responders and community supporters will also attend.
More than 150 walkers participated in last year’s event, raising $180,000 for the foundation. Walkers this year are asked to donate or raise at least $100 and can register or sponsor the event at silvershieldfoundation.org/greenwich-walk.
Registration begins at 10 a.m., followed by the opening ceremony at 11 a.m. and the walk at 11:30 a.m., rain or shine.
The foundation was created in 1982 by former New York Yankees owner George M. Steinbrenner III and James Fuchs.
