GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has named Alexandra Lage as the new assistant principal of Hamilton Avenue School, effective Aug. 11, Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced Tuesday.

Lage will succeed Annamaria Simonelli, who recently accepted a principal position in another school district.

"Greenwich Public Schools continues to attract the best school administrators that our region has to offer," Jones said in a prepared statement. "Ms. Alexandra Lage impressed our hiring committee with her dedication to education, strong knowledge of early literacy, and her ability to make strong connections in diverse communities like Hamilton Avenue School. She is committed to the development and achievement of school goals and objectives, while advocating on behalf of all students."

Lage comes to Greenwich from Bridgeport Public Schools, where she most recently served as assistant principal at Cesar A. Batalla and Luis Muñoz Marín Schools. In those roles, she supported school operations, curriculum implementation, and teacher evaluations, while building community engagement and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Prior to her administrative roles, Lage taught fifth and sixth grade for 10 years at Waltersville School in Bridgeport. During her tenure, she was active in school-wide initiatives, serving on the social-emotional learning committee, leading English language arts instruction, and directing student musicals.

"Ms. Alexandra Lage is a visionary leader who will not only support our goals, but also inspire innovation and growth within our school community," Hamilton Avenue Principal Diane Fox said in a prepared statement. "She will be a catalyst for positive change, helping to continue fostering an environment where both students and teachers can thrive."

Lage said she was drawn to the school’s emphasis on STEAM education.

"Hamilton Avenue School’s focus on science, technology, engineering, arts and math education really connects with the kind of work I love—helping kids think creatively, solve real-world problems, and stay curious," she said in a prepared statement. "In my past leadership roles, I have focused on creating hands-on, inclusive learning environments where both students and teachers feel supported to take risks and grow. Greenwich Public Schools values that kind of innovation and forward thinking."

Lage holds dual bachelor’s degrees in elementary education and psychology from Southern Connecticut State University, a master’s in educational technology from Sacred Heart University, and certifications in intermediate administration and K–6 elementary education. She is fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese.
