Assistant Principal Appointed At Greenwich Elementary School

The appointment is effective immediately, according to Greenwich Public Schools.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has named Kevin Thompson as assistant principal of the International School at Dundee, Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced Monday. His appointment is effective immediately.

"Dr. Kevin Thompson is a school administrator highly regarded for his positive energy, knowledge of instruction, and for making strong connections with students, staff, and families," Jones said in her announcement. "The hiring committee was excited about what he can provide to continue supporting the International Baccalaureate program at the heart of ISD's uniqueness."

Thompson most recently served as assistant head of upper elementary school at Greenwich Country Day School, where since 2022 he oversaw daily operations for grades 3-5, coordinated scheduling, and worked closely with the student support team.

Previously, Thompson taught fourth and fifth grade at GCDS and served as both a fourth grade teacher and teaching assistant in multiple grades at Greens Farms Academy in Westport.

He is also well-known in the Greenwich community for his two decades of coaching competitive diving with the Greenwich High School team and the Rocky Point Club.

"Dr. Kevin Thompson brings a wealth of administrative experience to the International School at Dundee," ISD Principal Phil Hammack said in an announcement. "His expertise collaborating with families and supporting faculty in professional learning was evident throughout the interview process. In particular, his passion for creating a warm and welcoming environment for students makes him an ideal fit."

"My vision is to ensure that every student at the International School at Dundee experiences a true sense of belonging while being encouraged to think critically, embrace diverse perspectives, and take meaningful action in their learning," Thompson said. "The International Baccalaureate Learner Profile’s focus on developing 21st century skills in young people aligns perfectly with my own belief that schools should prepare students to be compassionate problem solvers and responsible citizens of the world. Greenwich Public Schools’ emphasis on academic rigor, global citizenship, and the power of school-family partnerships is exactly the kind of environment where that vision can thrive."

Thompson has also served as head of school at East End Academy in Bridgeport, high school program director at Horizons at New Canaan Country School, and director of after-school activities at Greens Farms Academy.

He holds a bachelor’s degree in crime, law and justice from the University of Connecticut, a master’s in educational leadership from Manhattanville College, and a doctorate in education from Liberty University.
