Bill Kelly, A Longtime Greenwich Official, Has Died At 72

Bill Kelly was an active volunteer in the Greenwich community for many years.

GREENWICH, CT — Bill Kelly, a longtime resident and official in town, died on June 20, according to his obituary posted on Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home. He was 72.

Kelly served for eight years on the Greenwich Board of Education and four years on the Greenwich Board of Estimate and Taxation, his obituary noted.

In 1988, Kelly ran for the U.S. House of Representatives, and in 2021, he ran for first selectman in Greenwich. Kelly was also a past president and an active member of the Rocky Point Club, and he served on the membership committee at the Ponus Yacht Club, his obituary said.

Currently, Kelly was chairing the Julian Curtiss School Building Committee.

A wake is scheduled for Monday, July 1, at Leo P. Gallagher & Son from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place at St. Catherine of Siena Church on July 2 at 10 a.m.
