Burglars Strike Greenwich Homes, Cars

Five cars and 2 homes were targeted by thieves in a three-day period, according to police.

Two homes and five cars were targeted by burglars since Friday, according to Greenwich Police.

Residents of a Bayberry Lane home in the Greenwich backcountry reported about 4 p.m. Nov. 6 that the home was burglarized. Details on how entry was made and what was stolen were not immediately available.

Residents of a Roberta Lane home in the mid-country area of town was burglarized by thieves who smashed a second-floor window, according to Lt. John Brown. The residents discovered the burglary when they returned home shortly after 11 a.m. Nov. 8. It was not immediately known what was taken.

Patrol officers were sent to the Boys & Girls Club Greenwich about 1:20 p.m. Nov. 8 after the owners of three cars found the vehicles had been burglarized. All cars were parked in the club’s parking lot at 4 Horseneck Ln. in central Greenwich.

While officers were investigating those thefts, police were sent to the nearby Bruce Park playground parking lot on Museum Drive where the owner of a Toyota Venza found that someone had smashed a passenger door window and swiped a diaper bag containing a wallet and credit cards, Brown said. The theft occurred sometime between 12:30 and 1:05 p.m. Nov. 8, according to Brown.

In the fifth theft, a patron of the Equinox fitness club on Old Track Road in the Chickahominy neighborhood of Greenwich, returned to their unlocked car about 10:30 a.m. Nov. 7 to find someone stole a laptop computer and a wallet.
