Burglary, Drug Charges Lodged Against Greenwich Man

The suspect was arrested by officers conducting a drug investigation.

While conducting a drug investigation, Greenwich Police spotted a suspect who was named in arrest warrants charging him burglary and drug possession.

According to a Greenwich Police report, it was about 9:30 p.m. Thursday when officers spotted the suspect and arrested him.

James A. Clifford, 23, of Weaver Street, Greenwich, was charged with third-degree burglary, fifth-degree larceny and interfering with an officer, in connection with an Oct. 9 incident on Pemberwick Road, according to the report. Details of that incident weren’t included in the report. Police had obtained the arrest warrant on Feb. 3. Bond was set at $25,000.

Police also obtained a search warrant for Clifford, his vehicle and cell phone. During a consent search of the apartment where Clifford is staying, police found a digital scale, an oxycodone pill and less than a half-ounce of marijuana. Police charged him with possession of narcotics, possession of less than a half-ounce of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Connecticut Judicial Branch website, Clifford was released on a written promise to appear March 3 for both cases, in state Superior Court in Stamford.
