GREENWICH, CT — Several Greenwich High School sports teams will be honored in January for their recent accomplishments, according to First Selectman Fred Camillo.

In his most recent community newsletter, Camillo said the town will recognize the teams at a special ceremony at GHS next month.

"I always like to call Greenwich Titletown, CT after the Titletown, USA moniker they famously gave Vince Lombardi’s old Green Bay Packers teams and our student athletes continue to excel and earn that description," Camillo wrote, noting the recent GHS football triumph over Southington in the Class LL state title on Dec. 13.

"This win by the football team is just one of five championship teams at GHS this past year, joining the Boys’ Cross Country, Girls’ Volleyball, Girls’ Soccer and Girls’ Swimming teams in taking home the title," Camillo added. "We will be honoring all of these excellent young men and women at a ceremony at GHS in January. Congratulations to them all!"

A date for the ceremony has not yet been announced.
