Construction Causes 'Sagging Roadway' On Greenwich Avenue: Police
The Greenwich Department of Public Works said the roadway sagging is due to a material trench failure from Aquarion's ongoing project.

GREENWICH, CT — A portion of Greenwich Avenue has been reduced to one lane after roadwork caused the roadway to sag Thursday morning, the Greenwich Police Department said.
A partial road closure is in place in the area of 254 Greenwich Ave., police announced Thursday morning. No injuries were reported.
The Greenwich Department of Public Works Highway Division said the roadway sagging is due to a "material trench failure" from Aquarion Water Company's project on the Avenue, DPW spokeswoman Renee Wallace told Patch.

"The Town of Greenwich Department of Public Works Highway Division is currently coordinating with the proper parties to make sure that road is repaired as soon as possible," Wallace said.
Aquarion Communications Director Peter Fazekas told Patch the utility company's contractor is in the process of temporarily plating the small area of road so it can reopen.

"Due to all the saturation last night, the concrete did not fully cure," Fazekas said. "Our contractor will correct the issue this evening."
