Convent of the Sacred Heart Greenwich to Host Admission Open House

Prospective students and their parents are invited to the tour the campus this weekend.

Convent of the Sacred Heart, Greenwich is hosting an open house for prospective families on Saturday, Nov. 7 from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. to explore educational opportunities for their children.

Founded in 1848, Sacred Heart (www.cshgreenwich.org) is an independent, college preparatory school for girls from kindergarten through twelfth grade with a coed early childhood program. The school is located on a 118-acre campus at 1177 King St., in Greenwich and features a new, 35,000-square foot athletic center, which opened in September.

An engaging, interactive morning is planned to enable visitors to learn more about Sacred Heart. Registration begins at 9 a.m. in the athletic center. Tours of the campus will be offered. Three breakout sessions will provide a variety of panels and programs.

Here is a sample of the sessions:

  • “Hear Us Roar! Sacred Heart Athletics” -- An introduction to Sacred Heart sports by Athletic Director Kelly Stone, coaches, and team captains.
  • “Preparing Tomorrow’s Scientists Today” – Learn how the curriculum engages and excites students from the earliest years to the most advanced science research students.
  • “Full STEAM Ahead: Imagination and Innovation at CSH” – CSH’s coordinator of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and math) and faculty will show how Sacred Heart fosters imagination and student-led innovation utilizing cutting-edge computer science and robotic technology.
  • “Developing Leaders” – Sacred Heart’s community empowers students to become independent, confident young women with a strong moral compass. Meet the panel of Lower, Middle and Upper School students who will share what leadership means to them and how their experiences have helped them develop leadership roles.
  • “The International Sacred Heart Network” – Sacred Heart’s international exchange program will be highlighted, along with its summer service program.
  • “Lights, Camera, Action! Broadcast Journalism at Sacred Heart” – Go behind the scenes of the David J. Bloom Broadcast Studio to see students working on award-winning news programs, and learn more about this unique resource for students of all ages.

In addition, visitors can select from a program that includes sessions on their specific interests from kindergarten to Sacred Heart’s approach to cross-disciplinary literature, writing and research.
