Decision Issued on Termination of Greenwich HS Band Director: Report

Following several days of hearings appealing the termination of John Yoon, an arbitrator has issued his report.

An independent arbitrator has upheld the termination of Greenwich High School Band Director John Yoon, the Greenwich Time reports.

The arbitrator’s report follows several days of hearings in which Yoon, who has taught at the school for 23 years, and his attorneys appealed his termination as recommended by Greenwich School Superintendent William McKersie.

McKersie fired Yoon, who has a history of disciplinary actions during his 23-year career including at least three suspensions and six written warnings related to run-ins with students and colleagues. Yoon was first suspended in April and he claimed that it took administrators a month to notify him the suspension was precipitated by accusations that he bullied two students.
