Director Of Human Resources Appointed In Greenwich Public Schools

The new director will begin the role in the second week of October, according to Greenwich Public Schools.

GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich Public Schools has appointed Matthew Salvestrini as its new director of human resources, Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones announced this week. Salvestrini will begin in the second week of October and report directly to Chief Human Resources Officer Jonathan Budd.

"Matthew Salvestrini is an outstanding educator with 30 years of experience in high-performing districts," Budd said in an announcement. "His background as a teacher, school principal, and district administrator will enable Greenwich Public Schools to continue to enable all staff to reach their highest potential on behalf of Greenwich children."

In his new role, Salvestrini will oversee human resources functions for both certified and non-certified staff.

"Greenwich Public Schools’ focus on excellence and student well-being drew me to this role," Salvestrini said. "My priority is to build strong relationships with staff, educators, and administrators to create the best possible learning environment for students."

Salvestrini has served as a school administrator in Connecticut for more than 20 years, according to the school district.

Since 2015, he has been director of digital learning for New Canaan Public Schools, where he led hiring for specialized positions and worked on policy compliance with teachers, union representatives and other stakeholders.

From 2009 to 2015, Salvestrini was principal of Gainfield Elementary School in Regional School District 15, serving Middlebury and Southbury. He began his career in 1996 as a fifth grade teacher before moving into administration in 2003 as an assistant principal in Darien Public Schools.

Salvestrini holds a bachelor’s degree in English literature from Loyola College, a master’s degree in teaching from Sacred Heart University, and a leadership degree from the University of Connecticut’s Administrator Preparation Program. He also holds Intermediate Administrator/Supervisor (092) certification.
