GREENWICH, CT — Guy Fieri's road trip in the Fairfield County area continues Oct. 20, as a new episode of Food Network's "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" will feature Greenwich's Grigg Street Pizza.

Titled "East, South, West," the episode will air at 9 p.m., ET on Food Network. Be sure to check your local listings.

"This trip, Guy Fieri's going all over the country for some prime-time pit stops. In Mobile, Ala., a farm-to-table joint is cooking up killer crawfish étouffée and chicken-fried quail. In Greenwich, Conn., a pizza joint is putting out real deal pie and off-the-hook Philly cheesesteaks. Then in Cody, Wyo., a Middle Eastern-Mediterranean spot is serving up stellar sandwiches and a lights-out lamb flatbread.," a description of the episode says on the Food Network website.

Celebrity chef and restaurateur Christian Petroni joined Fieri to get a taste of Grigg Street Pizza, too.

Greenwich natives Jon Corbo and Matt Watson opened Grigg Street Pizza in 2020. The spot offers a plain pie and margarita pie, along with a variety of toppings to choose from, and a special pie on Thursdays. You can also grab pizza by the slice.

The menu also has salads, and sandwiches ranging from chicken parm to an Italian combo. A popular item is the Philly cheesesteak, which features dry-aged steak, house-made cheese sauce, fire-roasted green peppers, pickled long hots, white onion mix, and salt and pepper.

"We grew up here, in Greenwich, CT. We both left to explore but not for that long. We had adventures but returned and started our families here. Grigg Street Pizza is the spot we wanted for ourselves," Corbo and Watson say on their website. "An easy atmosphere. Filled with music, and the smells of cooking. Posters from concerts we went to hanging on the walls. Enough room to have a good time. And a simple, consistent menu that isn’t trying to be everything to everyone, but does hopefully have something for anyone. Once we found it we decided to share it. And once you get here, it’s only gonna get better."

Grigg Street Pizza has said that all of its pizza and bread are made with 100 percent zero commercial yeast. The pizza dough is essentially sourdough, although it doesn't have a traditional sourdough taste.

The popular pizza joint is no stranger to attention.

Barstool Sports founder and noted pizza taste tester Dave Portnoy paid a visit to Greenwich and Grigg Street Pizza earlier this year.

Portnoy scored the plain cheese pie an impressive 8.2. While Portnoy's cheesesteak ranking scale isn't as refined, he scored the sandwich a 9.2. Pizzerias and restaurants that Portnoy reviews positively usually get swarmed by fellow pizza lovers in the days after he posts the video.

A recent Instagram post by Grigg Street Pizza showed Fieri's signature red Camaro parked out front. Fieri visited several hot spots around the Fairfield County area in May. He previously stopped at Stamford Diner and Il Pastaficio in Cos Cob.

"Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives" first aired on Food Network in 2007, and quickly gained popularity. Fieri, a longtime restaurateur, takes viewers on road trips across the country to find hidden gems, local eateries and unique restaurants that are offering up good food.
